Design

The efficiency of a working wind farm and the cost of its development are essential.

From the outset of the project the scheme has been thoroughly analysed. Site layout, turbine location and the routing of cables and positioning of a substation are the result of this detailed analysis.

The design stage of the renewable energy solution is an area where TCI Renewables demonstrates the very best aspects of its multi-disciplinary project management expertise. Working seamlessly with multiple professional disciplines throughout the lifecycle of a project, TCI Renewables assures project success.

TCI Renewables collate wind data from strategically erected meteorological masts. Software analysis using WAsP and WindFarm enables wind climates to be predicted and power production and efficiency to be calculated. Aerodynamic modelling enables the turbine layout to be optimised for maximum efficiency and performance.

Many thousands of new grid connections undertaken in the United Kingdom give TCI Renewables the expertise to ensure that a cost effective and technically suitable grid connection is provided.

Geotechnical aspects of a site (incorporating soil, geology and hydrology) are investigated at an early stage to establish the feasibility of a proposed site in terms of the design and its cost.

Outputs from the design process incorporate all drawings required, from the planning application through to detailed designs of all civil and electrical works.

The final design solution reflects the overall approach of TCI Renewables, ensuring a successful solution is reached reflecting the following attributes –

    • Maximum development potential is achieved
    • Site constraints are thoroughly explored and addressed
    • Lifecycle issues are considered, for example, future maintenance processes and costs
    • Financial efficiency is achieved with a view to capital expenditure as well as that of future operational expenditure
